Vidett Endgame Solutions Conference 2025 1080 810 K3 Advisory

On Wednesday 18th June, Isio/K3 Partner, Adam Davis, joined a panel of speakers at the Vidett Endgame Solutions Conference 2025 at Silverstone Racecourse.

The one-day conference, which welcomed over 250 guests from around the pension industry, explored key topics impacting trustees, sponsors, advisers and insurers as schemes race towards their endgame. Themes discussed included market developments, the influence of consolidators, challenges in buy-ins and buy-outs, and the unique needs of micro schemes as they look to put themselves in pole position against the odds.

Adam joined James Duggan from Vidett, Alma Goyanes-Payne and Rob Mechem from Just, Chris Hawley from Barnett Waddingham and Jonathan Hazlett from Osborne Clarke for a discussion that brought micro schemes into focus, exploring the amplified challenges associated with these schemes, the market differences and commercia strategies. The session was chaired by Clare Routledge of Vidett.

Adam Davis commented:

“Critical for these cases is to understand the “all in” cost of the transaction – i.e the costs to get to buy-out and wind-up not just to complete the buy-in transaction.”

“Data and benefits need to be in very good shape. By definition for these cases, each member is a significant part of the liabilities so missing data (such as marital status or spouse details) has the potential to have a significant impact.”

“It will become more common to move micro schemes straight to buyout after the buy-in – as more and more schemes will go to buy-in with GMP equalisation done. This will likely become an expectation or even a requirement for these small schemes.”
